Taking on new challenges and encouraging others to try is one of Karen's passions. This shows in her vast experience with computers and is used daily to encourage others to "venture" on with technology. Currently working as the Executive Assistant for The Weatherman Inc where she oversees the daily operations and future projects for this media company. Involved in marketing, sales and promotions, TV productions and more for the future weatherman website, sure to be an interesting weather and community website serving the South Cariboo and Thompson Nicola Region... theweatherman.ca At Community Employment Services Karen was the Workshop Facilitator and an Employment Counsellor, Karen enjoyed many aspects of her job. She was responsible for developing and facilitating workshops that range from basic to advance skills. She assisted the unemployed and under employed in developing plans of action for employment. Often called upon to trouble shoot computer problems, Karen has always been willing to lend a hand. Instructor of computer courses at 100 Mile House's University College of the Cariboo has been an enjoyable time for Karen. A reminder of the fact that one is forever learning "new techniques" in today's fast changing world. She has been the coordinator for the Bridge Lake Technology CAP Site where she assisted people with E-mail accounts, Internet access,computer programs, career goals, plus many other aspects of computer and Internet use. She has designed and maintained the CAP site's web page, brochure and business cards, plus the promotion and marketing of the site. She has a proven track record of dealing effectively with people and successfully working from her home office, as well as administrative experience with various positions in School District No 27-Cariboo Chilcotin. The coordinator for the Distance Education Program said this in her letter of recommendation for Karen:
She lives in the South Cariboo of British Columbia where she enjoys her family and horses. Karen holds a CEF Level 1 Western Riding Instructors Certificate and trains horses. Volunteering has always been a part of Karen's life. She has held leadership positions with the Riding Club, Cub Scouts, 4-H Horse Club, and is a member of the local Community Club. Planning meetings, activities, camps, and clinics were a large part of her involvement with these clubs. Tourism has been a big part on her work life. She has experienced first hand the need for excellence having worked in the world renowned ski resort of Whistler, BC. Karen is a person who strongly believes in going the second mile and the saying " the customer comes first". |
